Letter From the President

Dear TVOS fellow members,

I am honored to be your president this year. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve our organization. This is a wonderful wine society that provides opportunities for education, friendship, and expanding horizons. Each year I look forward to attending the conference, and without exception they always exceed my expectations! It is my goal to make every effort to support the organization, welcome new members and embrace existing members.

As I look at my new friend for the year (a questionably cute troll with a multitude of adornments) I am reminded of the the society presidents that have come before me. I have seen that each of you all have put your heart and soul into this group. I would like to salute each and every past president for your efforts in making this the best wine group in the state. I must say, I am a bit nervous about the big shoes there are to fill!

The people in this organization are some of the most imaginative and innovative people I have ever met. I certainly would never have conjured  the amazing taste of wine made from bananas, dandelions, pears, or chocolate covered cherries without the insight (and samples) from YOU wine makers! The scholarship fund enhances opportunities for college students in our community. The Wine Competition is a great comparative competition that allows feedback for wine making efforts. All of these things enrich the lives of myself and others involved in this group.

My husband Keith and I live on a beautiful Tennessee farm. A few cows, chickens and a couple of bee hives out-number the neighbors. We have three grown children, Preston, Stephanie and Julia that have all flown our proverbial nest and make us proud in their endeavors.

In closing, I would like to say I am looking forward to a great year of working with you all towards our common goals of making delicious wines, exploring our commercial wineries, and enjoying all the amazing fruits & vegetables of our gorgeous fertile state.  I welcome any comments or contact from every member of the group.

Together we can celebrate the joy of wine!

Take care,

Caroline Gilmore, TVOS President

Recipes from Emmett Hunt

Former TVOS President and current Treasurer, Emmett is also an avid home cook who shares his recipes and wine pairings with the quarterly newsletters. Enjoy this simple fresh, spring dish which paired brilliantly with Pinot Grigio, White Muscadine, and Blackberry wine. (I hope that Blackberry wine was some of Emmett’s own award-winning blackberry wine!)
